Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] '1f59c327c1f23ca95a87ab827bfa28be' = '"%TEMP%\explrerx.exe" ..'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] '1f59c327c1f23ca95a87ab827bfa28be' = '"%TEMP%\explrerx.exe" ..'
Creates or modifies the following files:
- %HOMEPATH%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\1f59c327c1f23ca95a87ab827bfa28be.exe
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\1f59c327c1f23ca95a87ab827bfa28be.exe
Malicious functions:
To bypass firewall, removes or modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List] '%TEMP%\explrerx.exe' = '%TEMP%\explrerx.exe:*:Enabled:explrerx.exe'
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
Executes the following:
- '<SYSTEM32>\netsh.exe' firewall add allowedprogram "%TEMP%\explrerx.exe" "explrerx.exe" ENABLE
Modifies file system:
Creates the following files:
- %TEMP%\explrerx.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\1f59c327c1f23ca95a87ab827bfa28be.exe
Network activity:
Connects to:
- 'wh####ye.zapto.org':8080
UDP:
- DNS ASK wh####ye.zapto.org
Miscellaneous:
Creates and executes the following:
- '%TEMP%\explrerx.exe'
