Technical Information
To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'king_rb' = '%TEMP%\rbking.exe'
Substitutes the following executable system files:
- <DRIVERS>\cdaudio.sys with <DRIVERS>\SET2.tmp
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\m90g8qx.exe
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
Injects code into
the following system processes:
- %WINDIR%\Explorer.EXE
Restores hooked functions in System Service Descriptor Table (SSDT).
Forces autoplay for removable media.
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- C:\autorun.inf
- C:\m90g8qx.exe
- %TEMP%\ar1.rar
- %HOMEPATH%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\KHMHGZ4F\ar1[1].rar
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\cdaudio.sys.new
- %TEMP%\rbking0.dll
- %TEMP%\rbking.exe
- <DRIVERS>\SET2.tmp
- <DRIVERS>\SET1.tmp
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- C:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\m90g8qx.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- %TEMP%\rbking.exe
- %TEMP%\rbking0.dll
- C:\m90g8qx.exe
Deletes the following files:
- C:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\m90g8qx.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- C:\m90g8qx.exe
- <DRIVERS>\cdaudio.sys
- <DRIVERS>\SET1.tmp
- %TEMP%\ar1.rar
Moves the following files:
- from <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\cdaudio.sys.new to <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\cdaudio.sys
Deletes itself.
